    Hanna will be released one week after Michael's visit. During that time, he finds and rents a furnished apartment for Hanna . He finds a job for her, and gets some information about social services and educational programs up to date. Michael calls the prison and then talks to Hanna. Asking her how she would like to handle the release and relocation. The lighthearted attitude of Hanna angers Michael. He notices that her voice sounds the same as it did many decades ago.
    Chap. 10
    At daybreak on the day that Hanna is to be released, she hangs herself in her prison cell. Michael arrives at the prison and is greeted by the warden who informs him of Hanna's suicide. The warden tells Michael about Hanna's struggle with illiteracy. The warden show Hanna's cell to Michael. He notices a newspaper clipping, which contains a photograph of his graduation. The warden then tells Michael that Hanna learned to read by those tapes. Hanna hope Michael would write,but he never did.Then warden read to Michael about Hanna's will and take him to see Hanna's body.
    Chap. 11
    After 10 years ago,Michael carry out Hanna's instruction. He do to New York to bring the daughter the moneys : a bank check plus the tea tin with the cash. The daughter ask about the relationship between Michael and Hanna.Then she take Michael’s suggestion to donate all the moneys to Jewish organizeation for illiteracy. The end, she only keep the tin.
    Chap. 12
    Michael donated Hanna's moneys in her name to the Jewish League Against illiteracy.
    After several weeks, Michael receives in the mail a computerized thank-you note acknowledging the receipt of Hanna's donation. Michael takes the note and drives to the cemetery ,to Hanna's grave. It is the only time he visits.
    After ten years pass, Michael decides to write Hanna's story. He tells the story in his mind over and over again. He eventually writes it down.
