    -summary-
    CHAPTER FIVE
In the second week, the indictment with the subjunctive was read out. Although the five defendants had not been in charge of camp, all defendants were alleged to have acted illegally and culpably. Most of the troops and guards died or fled in the bombing raid that put an end one night to the prisoner’s westward march. Miraculously, two prisoners, a mother and her daughter, survived. To depose the mother, who remained in Israel, the trail was conducted there, and this was the only part Michael didn’t attend. One main charge concerned selections in the camp, since it was clear to everyone that some prisoners would be killed in Auschwitz. The other main charged involved the night of the bombing that ended everything. The defendants could have unlocked the women who were in church, but they did nothing and made women burn to death.
    CHAPTER SIX
Hanna made the worst impression on the court during the preliminary question, and she started to contradict something incorrect in the record which had been approved and signed by her. There was only time Hanna achieve her own kind of success. When she was trapped in the question that whether she knew the prisoners who were sent back would be killed. Not knowing how to response, Hanna asked’’ What would you have done?’’ in reverse. That amazed others, though the judge’s answer had nothing to do.
    CHAPTER SEVEN
Not only did Hanna’s insistent contradictions irritate the judge, but her willingness to admit things also annoyed other defendants. Thus, they started to use Hanna’s concessions to incriminate her and exonerate themselves. And the daughter recalled that Hanna used to select some weak and delicate girls to read aloud to her every evening. Those girls could not work anymore and would be sent to Auschwitz soon. And that indirect acknowledges something. Hanna did not say anything more, but turned around and looked at Michael, tense and exhausted.
